promotion and support of breastfeeding and optimal infant and young
child feeding practices
BPNI
is working closely with the provincial
(state) governments in India for capacity
building of the family level counselors
in the government health and nutrition
programmes. One such state is Andhra
Pradesh in southern India. In this
state, our state representative for
training of ICDS (A mother and child
nutrition and child development programme)
functionaries, Dr. K Kesavulu ( a
pediatrician and district health chief
in the government of Andhra pradesh),
was falicitated on the Womens's day
by the state government among others,
for his dedicated services to the
people of the state. Dr. Kesavulu
is coordinating the training programme
being implemented by BPNI secretariat
and the government of Andhra Pradesh.
We at BPNI are extremely delighted
for this recognition for our colleague.
Motivating events like this are very
few and far between our continous
struggle so I thought this will be
good to share this news with all of
you.
