Sir/Madam,
As you may be aware that Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India (BPNI) and the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) and the advocates and activists working on this issue, believe that breastfeeding is the right of all children and mothers. These organizations devote themselves to protect, promote and support that right. WABA sets the theme in motion and BPNI coordinates the action in India and South Asia through its country-wide network of BPNI branches at State and District units, as also its co-working organizations in other countries. World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is celebrated every year from 1st to 7th August to renew our commitment to the promotion of breastfeeding. We have been celebrating WBW since 1992. The theme for WBW 2002 is Breastfeeding: Healthy Mothers & Healthy Babies The theme focuses attention on health and nutrition needs of women before and during pregnancy, healthy birth outcomes and links it to successful breastfeeding, some times also called “fourth stage of labour”. Less stressful birthing experience naturally leads to the birth of an active and alert baby. This is crucial to succeed in early start of breastfeeding and ensure healthy development of babies for the future of our societies and economic development. As a highly respected part of the media, you have a special role in the promotion of breastfeeding in our society. Your reach among the people in the urban areas is well established. In the rural areas, the reach of the media is increasing phenomenally and it is also cost effective. Its message leaves a permanent impression on the viewers'/ listeners' minds. It is for this reason that we seek your support for our noble mission to spread information on Healthy Mothers and Healthy Babies. How can you help in this event…
Thanking you Sincerely yours, (
